The short version

  • We collect data from your saws (events, parameters, program names) and about your use of the dashboard (the chats you have with Dr. Saw, the maintenance logs you keep).
  • We use it to run Saw Doctor for you — display dashboards, power chat, send alerts. We do not sell it or share it with anyone outside our sub-processors.
  • You can export everything we have about you. You can delete everything. Email support@sawdoctor.ai.

1. What we collect

The Saw Doctor agent (which you install in your shop) reads:

  • Saw filesystem data: alarm history, program names, axis positions, configuration parameters, tool counters, datalogs. The agent does not write to the saw — it only reads.
  • Heartbeats: every minute, the agent posts a "still alive" record so the cloud knows monitoring is healthy.

The cloud dashboard (which you access in a browser) stores:

  • Account info: your email address, your display name, your role within an organization.
  • Chats with Dr. Saw: the messages you send and the responses, including any files (photos, PDFs) you attach.
  • Maintenance records: what you logged, when, what it cost, who did it.
  • Push notification endpoints: if you opt into phone alerts, the URL your browser issued so we can deliver pushes to that device.
  • Operational logs: request IDs, error messages, and timing data we use to debug and improve the service. These contain user IDs but not the content of your data.

We do not collect payment data today. When billing turns on, payment information will be handled entirely by Stripe — we never see your card number.

2. Why we collect it

To run the product for you. Specifically: to show you dashboards, to let Dr. Saw answer questions about your saws, to fire alerts at you when something is wrong, to keep your maintenance history searchable, and to debug the service when it misbehaves.

3. Who we share it with (our sub-processors)

We use a handful of vendors to run Saw Doctor. They each have their own privacy practices, and we have agreements with them to handle your data on our behalf:

  • Supabase (Postgres database + authentication) — stores everything except files attached to Dr. Saw chats. supabase.com/privacy
  • Vercel (web hosting + edge network) — serves the dashboard. vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy
  • Anthropic (Claude, the model behind Dr. Saw) — receives your chat messages and any files you attach. Per Anthropic's commercial terms, your inputs and outputs are not used to train their models. anthropic.com/legal/privacy
  • Resend (transactional email) — receives the email address + content of any email we send you (weekly briefs, agent-offline alerts). resend.com/legal/privacy-policy
  • Stripe (billing, when it turns on) — will receive payment info you provide directly to them. stripe.com/privacy

We do not share your data with advertisers, data brokers, or analytics platforms. We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or similar tracking pixels in product email or on the dashboard. Email open/click tracking is disabled on every message we send.

4. How long we keep it

We keep your data for as long as your organization is active on Saw Doctor. If you want it deleted, ask — see Section 6.

Files attached to Dr. Saw chats live in our Storage bucket for up to 90 days, then are automatically removed. The chat message that referenced them stays (so the conversation still reads in order) but the attachment itself is gone.

Sample-level telemetry from saw datalogs (the per-5-second parameter snapshots) is pruned automatically after 30 days. The summary-level data (alarms, daily totals, runs) is kept indefinitely because that's where the long-term value of Saw Doctor lives — comparing this week to a year ago.

5. Where it lives

The cloud database is hosted in the United States (Supabase US East). The dashboard is served via Vercel's global edge network. Anthropic Files API stores attached chat files on their infrastructure (US-based). The agent on your shop computer holds a local SQLite copy that never leaves your network.

6. Your rights — export, deletion, correction

To exercise any of the rights below, email support@sawdoctor.ai from the email address on your account.

  • Export. Get a JSON archive of all data associated with your organization (events, chats, maintenance logs, etc.). Delivered within 30 days.
  • Deletion. Erase your organization and everything in it, including any files attached to Dr. Saw chats (we delete them from Anthropic's storage on your behalf). Completed within 30 days; we confirm by email.
  • Correction. Tell us what's wrong and we will fix or remove it.
  • Opt out of aggregation. Ask to exclude your shop from the anonymized cross-shop patterns described in Section 4 of our Terms.

7. Security

We protect your data with industry-standard measures: TLS for every connection, encryption at rest in Supabase and Vercel, row-level security policies so one organization's data can't be read by another, and a short list of human admins (just Chuck today). We are honest about what we can't promise: no system is unbreachable, and a determined attacker with sufficient resources may eventually succeed against any service. If we discover a breach affecting your data, we will notify you by email within 72 hours of confirmation.

8. Children

Saw Doctor is for industrial use. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe we have, email support and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a way that materially affects you, we will email the address on your account and update the date at the top of this page.
